About the Book

Mishaps of a successful physician, Tom Moretto, are chronicled as NINE LIVES  provides a walk through his childhood from the time he was placed in the birthing crib to die before morning--to the cobalt treatments for his thyroid problem.  Cars, guns, and boats led the way to hair-raising mishaps throughout his youth in rural Indiana.  And jobs during his teens, twenties, and thirties couldn’t squelch his orneriness and kept him flirting with disaster with his work-hard, play-hard philosophy.

But the most serious challenge was the needless heart surgery resulting from a fluke. The story makes one shed a tear, as well as belly laugh as it reaches both ends of the emotional spectrum.

About the Author

The author, Louise Moretto, grew up in a small Indiana community and was schooled at conservative universities--Purdue and Butler, where she earned her Master''s degree.  She had life experiences very different from her husband of nearly two decades, Tom Moretto, M.D.  Friends and family convinced the author to chronicle Tom’s escapades that make a mouth fly open and stick in one’s mind like the tune that you hum all day.

Living with such a prolific individual prepared her for lively interactions with the twelve children and grandchildren.  The author also entertains the family with accounts of her employment from teaching at the Indiana School for the Blind to marketing malls and residential communities for a multi-millionaire.  She also loaded cans on a canning factory conveyor belt, worked in a botany and plant pathology lab, and saved lives as a lifeguard and nurse''s aide—as well as becoming the highest-paid model in Indianapolis.  But her tales pale in comparison to her husband''s.  If his flamboyant stories were grains of sand, he would fill many buckets.
