The controlled deceleration close to Alpha Centauri raised the hopes of people all over the world. We presumed they were looking for intelligent contact with other beings.
With the world in a panic the reasons for the Aliens actions’ needed an explanation.! It was obvious human life was of no consequence to our visitors. During the reign of terror from the geo-sampling ships, the military was not idle. The third shuttle was launched. This was the world in which I grew up. The destruction was worldwide. Our stores of food and fuels saw to our needs and numerous others. It was months until some normalcy returned. This caught me totally off guard! I hesitated but a second, looking around the room slowly, I said, “I really need to know what you people know” I had always lived by the saying, ‘saying less meant more’! This was the test… I took a breath as if I were going to continue, but I didn’t, I just nodded to the Colonel.. The reason for our presence on your world is a result of biological samples retrieved during the Malieorea’s last visit. We the Holbeetos have never seen a Malieorean. We repelled their attempts to harvest our home and two of our colonized worlds over 1000 of your years ago. The complete visit was about forty minutes long. Back in the morning sun light everything, somehow, looked better.. The outlook of what may happen to Earth, to us all seemed a little brighter, we had an ally, someone to help us survive…
“I know” I said, “I always wanted to be a hero, how about you”.
“Let’s not take time to vote on it” he said, “Firing all missiles”.
The missile techs’ did their job flawlessly, all cutters rotated out two by two every 1.7seconds. Traveling close to the speed of light ourselves watching the missiles slowly begin to ignite was quite a sight…
“Hi Nathan” Norton said, “I brought the Cavalry.”
“You’re a bit late”
“Heah” he said, “Even at 900-million miles per hour, it sometimes takes forever”…
We had more materials stored in space, than was available to mine on Earth………..The human race was now GALACTIC…

Disputed Territory...Earth; covers the six-teen months prior to and the twenty-five years after our first alien contact. Not the kind of “first contact” we had hoped for. The world, through necessity, is catapulted from near possible extinction to galactic equals with our adversaries. The chain of events set in motion by the landing of alien craft on our planet is a more realistic account of what Earths policies, postures, reactions and responses would be. Using all technologies available, piracy, luck and the natural human aggressive nature we are able to form and initiate both defensive and offensive retaliations. Helpless the first visit, we as a people could do nothing but watch the devestation unleashed upon the human race and our planet. With world wide cooperation and preparations we were poised and ready upon their return, and do manage to turn the tables on the invaders.
