GO TELL IT
Love transport me to the heart of surrender.
Feelings take me to the fountain of youth.
My one and only star point me to the well,
That I may draw from my love.
If I am too weak call for my renewed spirit,
My friends go tell it to my love,
That he sends fire to my soul.
Come forth my love take me water.
The soldiers of love are at my gate.
My eyes are like the moon.
In my dreams I saw fine gold.
String me my love take me with thee.
I cannot hold my love,
Let me rest upon your heart.
Let me hear your sweet voice.
How beautiful are thy hands,
Stretch them for me my love.
Let not my tears search for thee.
Sweet memories come to me like burning bushes.

Melbourne Peat author of Go Tell It and Fertile Ground originally hails from Belvedere Portland, Jamaica. He has also been published by the National Library of Poetry, The Poetry Guild, and The Greater News Weekly Journal.
Melbourne Peat served fifteen years on the Jamaican constabulary force prior to immigrating to the
Mr. Peat’s poetry is inspired by his experiences. He often visits Eagle Rock Reservation very early in the morning. He says the tranquility of the park is a perfect setting in which to write.
