Jenny opened her eyes to find herself lying on a mattress inside a small and dingy room that was unfamiliar to her. She wondered where she was and how she got here, but could only remember waiting for Alan to return with her sweater.
The only light in the room was the moonlight coming through the window and it was hard to see her surroundings. She saw a brown paper bag next to the mattress. She opened it to find a tee shirt and pair of her jeans inside. After changing, Jenny walked to the door. She reached for the door knob, turned it, and pulled. It was locked. She pounded on it with her fists and yelled.
“Help! Please help me! Is anyone out there?”
But she heard nothing outside the door that would suggest there was anyone there.
She walked back to the bed in the corner and sat down. Where am I, who put me here, and how long have I been here? she wondered.
The biggest question in her mind was why? Why would anyone abduct her?
She looked around her and shuddered.
“What kind of place is this?”
The walls appeared to be battleship grey and the floor was made of wood. A toilet was in one of the corners, but there was no sink. A towering window with iron bars was across the room with a crate underneath. She walked over to it and stepped up to look out the window. What she saw almost gagged her and she had to gasp. Garbage was thrown all around and large rats were scurrying in and out of crates piled there. A man was lying motionless among them with what appeared to be a bottle of wine in his hand. Jenny couldn’t tell if he was dead or just passed out but decided to call to him for help.
“Sir, could you help me?”
He didn’t move; he just layed motionless.
“Please, sir. Wake up.”
Oh, God, where am I and what’s going to happen to me she thought. While getting off the crate Jenny heard a key being put in the lock of the door and stood ready to face her captor.
As the door opened, she saw him.
“Hello, Jenny. I’m not going to hurt you so you don’t have to look like a scared rabbit. I’m here only to talk to you. I see you found the bag of clothes.”
“It’s you! Why have you locked me up like a caged animal? You can’t keep me here against my will and I demand you release me.”
He looked like an animal about to eat his prey, and Jenny was scared to death.&nbs
