About the Book

Have you ever slowed-down or paused long enough to observe and assimilate the fragrant beauty of a rose in bloom, the trees, the rolling hills, a placid lake, the monumental splendor of the mountains, the gigantic seas with endless and unceasing multi-storied walls that crash upon the smooth and countless grains of sand, only to retreat and come at you again? Have you every laid upon a bed of grass and gazed at the majestic beauty of Gods clear blue and infinite domain? Have you observed the arabesque construction, the peaceful muted beauty and serenity of clouds as they drift by? I tell you this, it is absolutely beautiful and inspiring and awesome. It is beautiful beyond words and awesome beyond the limits of mortal comprehension. It is an experience that dwarfs and transcends all that is finite and mortal and links you with the two intangibles, the infinite and the immortal, it brings you close, ever so close, to your creator! It makes kings of mere men and giants of Lilliputians. It gives dignity and peace to man. It provides the answer to man’s quest for his existence. It is a physical, mental and spiritual experience that transcends earthly vice and pleasures and bestows temporary immortality. It makes you realize how small you are. It makes you humble!

About the Author

Miguel is the fourth of eight children born to Micaela and Roberto.  He grew up and received most of his education in San Antonio having attended Washington during Junior High, Thomas Jefferson High and San Antonio College.  During the first six years of his education he attended at least five different grade schools.  It seems like they were always moving.  His father, having received a good education in Mexico, had a language barrier, thus he had to work at whatever was available.  The family was poor, money was scarce and survival was difficult, at best.  But, since every body else was also poor they accepted this as a norm so no one complained.

In High School sports Mike won the boxing championship in his weight division and also participated in track (one mile).  After college he was drafted for the forgotten war, served two years active duty, emerging as a sergeant and also served six years in the Army Reserve.  He turned down the Army''s offer of O.C.S. and also direct commission.

After release from active duty he moved to California where he worked as an Aerospace Engineer for over thirty-five years.  He also worked for Black Programs.

At the age of six he was out on a street corner selling newspapers with his older brother.  Many a time they fought for a more sales-oriented corner.  Later the duo owned bicycles and acquired "Paper Routes."  This meant arising at 0400 hours on Sunday morning, rolling and tying the papers, loading them on the Saddle Bags and delivering.  The winters are severe in Texas, especially at 4:00-6:00 AM.  The overnight frozen puddles were cracked by the bicycles'' front tire while the boys were discouraged by the boots worn.  These were lean times, but some how everyone survived.  Even more interesting, everyone was happy!  You don''t miss that which you never had!

His hobbies include flying, skiing (water and snow), target shooting, History, and writing.
