Happy Hoosier Mapping Skills

This Indiana mapping book can be a great way of learning map skills and learning about Hoosier communities.  These activities can be great in a group, independent, class, or learning center setting.

This book helps students get the practice needed to reason and use logic skills necessary for today and tomorrow’s challenges.  The worksheets contain questions from various academic fields of study.  It also meets many of the Indiana State Standards required in Indiana.

Each of the following 16 Indiana towns in this book have a corresponding page of questions about the town that will help students learn about the town and community.  After adding their name to the town trivia pages there will be a quick “break the ice” fun question about their likes.

Answers are provided in the back.  Many students will do just grand.  Some may need a little more help.  This book provides a list of the towns used for them to look off of if they need the extra help to narrow down their search.

Directions:

1. Kids will need a state map.  These are easily obtainable.
   The Indiana Department of Transportation also provides
   free distribution of maps.
2. Either give kids one mystery picture or two, depending on
   your preference and time.
3. After they have figured out the correct town(s), give them
   the corresponding town’s worksheet to find out more about
   that Hoosier community.
