I Can’t Make This Journey Without You.

Today, June 10, 2003 as I sit in my room after spending some time with God, I decide to write another book. I don’t know how to get started so I am depending on the Holy Spirit again.  I have come to the realization that there is nothing I can do without Him. In talking to my baby son on the telephone a few hours ago, yes he’s in jail again, I was talking to him about my favorite subject. Jesus! I told him that I was just spending time in I Corinthians 2:9 where it says: “But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” That word ‘prepared’. That tells me that something is already waiting for me to claim.  We talked on for a while and he told me that he had just got through reading the story of Jonah.  Now when he said that, my heart began to burst with joy in knowing that he was reading his bible in jail.  He went on to tell me what he understood about what he had read.  He said that Jonah disobeyed God when God told him to go to Ninevah and he fled to Tarshish.  I kept on listening to him explain as best he could.  By him being a babe in Christ, he couldn’t say it like I would have said it.  But I knew the story of Jonah. I myself have been a Jonah.  Our conversation continued until our minutes were up.  Talking to my children in jails and prisons have become common as day and night.  When I wrote my first book, From Pain To Peace, Von was in Jefferson County Detention Center and Tammy was in Davisboro State Prison.  All of this has been a part of my life since 1997. And all of this used to bring tears to my eyes because I hadn’t made Jesus the center of my life.  I kept listening to Von talk about Jonah. And I realize that he was really referring to himself.  He said, Jonah said, throw me over board and your ship will get calm.. I was on the edge of my seat to hear him keep talking about Jonah.  But my mind was saying that he was seeing his own disobedience. How many times I’ve been telling him, Von stay from behind the wheel.

Have you ever felt like you’re fighting a losing battle? I feel sometimes like jails and prisons are closing in on me.  And that makes me feel like I can’t go on.  But God!  I like those two words, ‘But God!’ Hold on, Ruth, I am getting you ready for a breakthrough.  You’ve been in the wilderness, but it’s working for your good.  Have confidence in yourself.  Remember I was the One that reduced your pain.  I was the One who gave you peace.  I am still chipping away everything that don’t resemble My Son Jesus Christ.  You gonna make it.  I am highly recommended!
