In today’s world, we see people everyday who appear broken, and deep down we ask ourselves when is the need to say something? Some may seem beyond repair: The homeless, the inmate, the drug addict, the greedy business executive who always wants more, and the tyrant. Jesus calls us to see beyond people’s problems, to love them and restore them to useful service in God’s kingdom. As we look at the prodigal son when he was slump with unfair treatment that was caused by himself, he realized that it was time to say something. When he started home, he probably felt that his situation was hopeless. He had strayed from his family and lived in a shameful, sinful manner. He did not expect to be accepted into his family again. At best, he might be welcomed as a servant, but his father threw his arms around him and welcomed him home.

No person nor any situation is hopeless. Our God is a God of hope and grace. As Jesus said, “ For God all things are possible, “ so don’t think that when you have something to say that you should be silent, go ahead say what’s needed to be said, you could help someone who is listening.
I totally agree with the scriptures that it is easier for us to see the specks in others’ eyes than to see the log in our on eye. My personal devotional times gives me the opportunity to look at myself honestly. In these moments of silent reflection, I look back not only at my experiences, but also at my responses. I know that the presence of the counselor and the prince of peace not only helps me discover my errors, but also brings me peace. I work out ways to make amends; hurt feelings are healed, and I experience greater growth in life. So when you feel the need to say something, do so with God’s guidance, and with God our mistakes become opportunities to grow.
