About the Book

Growing up in the 1930’s to the impossibility of FDR coming to eat ham and beans on any given Monday with the family, this publication hits all the high’s and low’s. From time served in the Navy to time served in chemotherapy, these are the stories of the average citizen. The varied vocations, life going to Barber School, the competition, the Barber Shop Cheer as we competed in sporting events, Rip a Lip, Tear a Jaw, Save the Face, Raw, Raw, Raw! The memories, the observations, consider the article on “Pockets” or “Buttons.” Politics and more are only a few of the subjects covered in this publication. Humor is the foundation, we hope you enjoy!

About the Author

The book really tells the story of life , it’s wind-falls and it’s pit-falls. It really is a compilation of essays directed by the events and happening in the ordinary, everyday life of one citizen in the State of Indiana. Nothing spectacular, just his take on life and experiences. It’s about families, friends, people.

He celebrates 75 years of age and was always fascinated by the written word. After living 70 years in a small town he moves to the country. This gives him time to reminisce and cultivate his ideas for writing. “From the Porch Swing,” would be a reflection time for a life well lived.

His writing would like to convey to the young that life is worth- while, even though some “bumps in the road” are always going to be there. You are important, you are someone that will have many experiences that will shape your future. Enjoy your time here as I have.
