About the Book

With over 4, 000 entries, this mythological reference book is but a stepping stone to the world of mythology. This book is a tool to provide basic information on a wide spectrum of beings, objects, and ideas. Rom Greek and Roman myths to the myths of the Inuit and the Russians – the material is presented to help you enter into the world of myths; such as “The Iliad” , “The Odyssey”, and the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”.

A quick reference book divided into sections representing the different parts of the world. Although the majority of items deal with European mythology, there are ample references to other parts of our historical past.

About the Author

Born in Denison, Texas in 1947, Gerald Rodney Avant grew up in the South. Attending schools in New Mexico, Alabama, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Theater and a Masters of Behavioral Studies in 1974. He is a Viet Nam veteran and a retired educator.

While teaching, Avant taught a course in mythology and found that resources were slight in rural Oklahoma. To provide material for the class, he and his students began a search for information on a wide variety of myths and cultures

Having traveled from Viet Nam to Italy, and from Mexico to Alaska; he has finally gathered over 4, 000 entries in this endeavor.
