Pain, Pleasure and Sacrifice

Thoughts Thoughts… Millions have passed through my mind over the years. Thoughts of money, fame, success, love… seems trouble always comes with that last one. My thoughts, just my thoughts… The newness of love, the sacrifices, the joy; heartache, Heartbreak… After that, one begins to wonder, will love ever be as kind as it was in those first days? My thoughts, just my thoughts… No matter how much we’ve been pierced by the sting of a broken heart, love still remains the ultimate conquest. Images of that perfect person, the one seen in many a dream, that one for whom you’d give any- and everything. My thoughts, just my thoughts… In comes reality, its harshness reminds us that there are no perfect people in the world. But even still, there is you; you may not be perfect, but my thoughts tell me it doesn’t matter. My thoughts, just my thoughts… Beauty never had a face, Laughter never had a sound, Until there was you, Now, forever, in my thoughts. * * * A Path to History One cold day in February, thousands upon thousands were called to be a part of one massive force to free a country from a man of ruthless tyranny. Some say freedom is free… If that’s so true, why then are the innocent losing their lives in this foreign country? Winning a war on the outside, scarring ravaged souls on the inside; time taken from family, soon and very soon, will cost some their sanity… Our plight in this war was played out on TV, but yet, even still doesn’t tell the delicate story of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who put their lives on the line to protect against an oppressive enemy. After this is over, I will be left, indeed, to reflect on time and war and how it changed me. I didn’t ask to be a part of history, but God had it in His plan to ensure that history would forever be…a part of me!
