The man my mother said was my biological father; his name was Earl Johnston. He named me Sierra, he said it was the prettiest name in the book. After he completed four years in the Navy he drove semi trucks for a living. When I was a little girl I can remember some of the stories he would tell me when he came back from his road trips. However, there were some things he didn’t tell me.
Earl pulled into a rest area for truckers when he noticed a man approaching his big rig. The man looked like he was tired and needed some rest. The man asked Earl.
“Say man which way are you going?”
“Going to
“How about a ride, I live in the
“Sure jump on in.” Earl unlocks the door. The man jumps in.
“What’s your name?” Asked the man.
“Earl, what’s yours?”
“
“Nice to meet you Gary.” Earl pulls his truck out of the truck stop and started heading east on highway 80. When the man notices how neat and clean Earl kept his truck.
“So Earl how long have you been driving eighteen wheelers?”
“For about one year I just got started. I got out of the Navy about a year ago and I been driving every since.”
“I knew you had just started driving as neat as this truck is. Where are you from?”
“
“Man I’m a drifter you know.”

“Divided Souls” is an unforgettable story of a girl and a boy growing up in two different parts of the country.
Growing up in dysfunctional and broken homes, dealing with good, bad and ugly situations. Their search for love was bleeding their souls and the missing father in the home had taken a toll on the missing love in their life. When they became adults it was a devastating blow.
Divided Souls is the story that has been waiting to be told. This book is going to make you laugh; it’s going to make you cry. It’s going to take you through an experience you’ve probably experienced yourself. Dealing with missing fathers, love, murder and too much pain. Divided Souls illustrates how missing fathers is not just a missing link to the family, but a soul missing from the family.
However difficult writing this book may have been, because of my own experiences. I have found a way to release it and through this book I will put you right in touch with a reality. It will also help to enhance your ability to face life with a different vision and its obstacles with a smile, laughter and love. And it will give you seeds for the souls to feed off.
Sierra and James grew up without a father and when they learned the detrimental truth the effect was catastrophic. When Sierra moved to another state she also learned how difficult it was to comfort a murderer, known as her best friend. She learned that the missing father was the missing love she yearned for. James had to change his attitude from being an abusive man to being a man. In spite, of his mother’s addiction to cocaine and never knowing who his father was, he continued to try to love women. When Sierra and James met they fell in love and later learned they are sister and brother. This is an issue that society has become comfortable with an issue and a vicious cycle that must be turned around. My experiences have overwhelmed my life and they must be told through Divided Souls.

However, difficult my own life struggles may have been I found a passion in writing and out of my life experiences and my pain I write breathtaking stories with real life characters, that represent this age and time. Out of searching for myself I learned that I suffer from not having my father in my life as a child, and now as an adult, and because of that I have endured a life long of riveting pain. I too suffer from the missing father disease and I had no where to turn. So I turned to a pen and a piece of paper, which brought about more creativity. I noticed I was locked in so much turmoil and pain I had to release it, some kind of way. I found a way to get it out; so through my writings I bare my pain.
There’s a continuing legacy of Great Black Women, with exuberant minds, I am, one of them.
