About the Book

Goss Rogers returns from the DC area with his girlfriend, Rae, to the hills and hollows of his home state.  An unusual mixture of artist and scientist, Goss tells Rae he wants to add to his portfolio of paintings, but privately plans to investigate a legend that purports an apparition of a little girl roaming the hillsides.  Most of the hill folk do not take the ghost story seriously, but one night upon seeing the apparition, one them had released his huge German Shepard  in its direction. The attack was quick and vicious, but afterwards, the little girl was nowhere to be found and the attacking dog had been brutally slaughtered. Some of the hill people claim to have seen the killer and that it is some kind of monstrous prehistoric snake.  The word soon gets around and masses of gawkers invade the hollow causing much unrest among the locals.  Goss's interviews with the hill people are both scary and funny and he and his girlfriend's lives seem to be constantly in peril.
