Travels in the Land of Mystic Misfits

Before the bogie could speak a cloud of silver, blue sparks vanished from sight. He looked around but still did not seem to see anyone coming. He then decided he would shape shift like Pharisee told him.

Lying in the field of colored flowers Oakum felt wonderful and happy inside. He had not ever felt like this before today. His foot lay across his knee with fresh flowers between his toes and bent to smell each one. He felt he could lie there the rest of the day except he knew he had to keep moving.

Gathering up his stick that held his bag of junk, he headed towards the mountains walking through the field of flowers. A harsh growl came at his feet as he looked down and saw nothing there but more flowers. A huge purple flower growled again and tried to bite him causing Oakum to step backwards. Still watching, the purple flower growled even more trying harder to reach him to take another bite. Oakum reared his foot back to kick the beastly flower when it started to shake. The flower reared back as if to attack the large footed gnome. A few more growls came out with a faint giggle.

The gnome however was becoming alarmed deciding to go ahead and kick the strange flower.

“Don’t kick me!” The flower yelled. “I was only teasing.”

Oakum turned pale and thought he was hearing things. He would not believe the flower had just spoken to him. “Poof!” The purple flower than turned into a creature the gnome had never seen before.         

“I was a snap dragon, pretty good huh?” The bogie spoke impressed with his self.

“I never met a gnome before, I’m Bogie. What did you say your name was again?”

Oakum was still staring and his face was still pale under all the dirt he wore. He still could not believe what he was seeing.

“Oakum.” The gnome said flatly. “What are you?”

“Well I suppose you have never had the pleasure of meeting a goblin before. Since I am the only one I bet you didn’t know.” Bogie stated matter of fact. “Where are you going?

The gnome did not understand what was going on and why a flower could turn into something else. He kept staring at the funny looking creature standing before him dressed in green with a hat like his but his was green not brown. Oakum wondered where he had come from and where he was going.

“Are you going to speak? I’m not sure about gnomes are you good or bad?” Bogie asked staring back at the gnome in wonder.

After a moment, Oakum was ready to speak and he suddenly felt he did not care for this goblin. He felt like the goblin was trouble and he wanted rid of him quickly.

“I’m going to the mountains. Where did you say you were from?” Oakum asked.
