THE OBSIDIAN BLADE

On the way back to the castle Prince Cirroc thought more about what he knew  about assassins.  They may work to kill a man, or to guard him.  The problem was that the man involved might not know the truth of it until it was too late.  So one of his questions was, were Avock and Grail here to keep him alive or not?  Were they just biding their time hoping that this city would kill him before they had to? If they had orders that he was to die, how long did they have until they had to carry out those orders or lose their pay?  And who did this blade belong to, and what was it doing sticking out of the body of a beggar? What could a beggar possible do that would earn the attention of an assassin?  Or did the beggar just get in the way of an assassin who had orders to kill him?
