For Love Of Country

The period that brought forth the country’s greatest president had a lot more to offer than earlier periods as far as technical advances and the Republic had several decades of being a nation under its belt. Even with this I would not liked to have lived to watch the nation become divided and see fathers, brothers, and sometimes whole families killed in a war so terrible that the whole of the population suffered in some manner.

Personally, I think the war was justified even with all of the carnage, as no people should have to live under the banner of slavery. No one has the right to own another as a slave; especially in a country that had freedom written so deeply in its roots.

The individual income tax should never have been enacted into law.  The majority of the citizens did not approve of an individual income tax and they certainly did not want it taken from their paychecks. On the other hand, the government knew taking it in small chunks from the paycheck was about the only way they could collect the tax without causing people to rebel against being taxed. If the citizens were sent a bill at the end of the year and had to fork over the tax in a lump sum they would see how much the tax really hurt. So the government used every means it could muster from cartoons to patriotism to convince congress to pass the 1943 act approving automatic or payroll withholding.

The way the consumption tax works with business and manufacturing can get complicated as they pay the tax at different stages of the enterprise so I will not dwell on that part of the tax. It is quite simple for the individual. Basically, all other taxes, with the exception of the social security tax would no longer exist, as we know them now. There would be no individual income tax. Some fees would probably still be a possibility.

The reason I will write mostly about Blacks is because other than the Native Americans I think Blacks have had a raw deal for the most part in this country until 1964 and it should not have been that way for almost 400 years. They should not have had to wait 100 years and it takes an act of congress for their freedoms to be protected. They have been here almost as long as the White founders and they have done much to build this nation. No other race, other than Europeans, has immigrated to this country, whether by chance or choice, longer ago than the Blacks.

Many of you may not know that Black slave labor built the original Washington DC. Isn’t that so ironic? A nation founded on freedom yet the nations capitol was built by slaves. The main reason the site where Washington DC was originally laid out was that it was close to the two states that had the largest slave population, Virginia and Maryland. If I remember my history correctly the land was donated by ole George himself who also owned slaves.

I believe the root cause of the deterioration of the public schools is the intrusion by the Federal Government. It seems that anything the feds get involved in ends up in a shambles. They always hold the treat of losing funds for non-compliance of the rules and regulations they pass down. The problem with most of these rules and regulations is that they are enacted based on political correct ideas. Political correctness is another tool used to divide people.
