About the Book

How often do we look up from the rubble of our expectations and in exasperation ask, “Why?”  Imagine the cosmos grinning back and replying, “Well, you tell me why!”

Written at times caustically, at times perplexedly, and at times insightfully, Renewal is set in the episodic context of personal upheaval mixed with wonder about the nature of love, loss, and relationships.  At its heart, Renewal is about how we tend to afflict our awareness through our expectations and how we might meet the challenge to become unencumbered and renew our essential wonder and grace.

Welcome to the ride…

About the Author

Travis Gibbs was born into a military family in 1947.  As a young man he traveled extensively throughout Europe and North America before settling down in Southern California where he has lived most of his life.  Shortly after graduation from high school, he started college, but soon decided against a college education and entered into the business world instead. However, he never lost his interest in philosophy or psychology and finally resumed his studies, eventually earning a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  His interests include the role of volitional evolution in human biological, psychological, environmental, and social structures, which, set against the backdrop of personal loss, this book discusses.

At present, Travis Gibbs teaches psychology at Riverside Community College in Southern California.
