About the Book
It was 5:30 AM My alarm clock sounded as it did on any typical Tuesday. I am not quite sure why, but on that dark, still morning, I felt led to request an unscheduled day off from work at the Pentagon. Following my gut, I took the day off. A few hours later, while preparing breakfast, the phone rang. "Turn on the TV." was all my wife could say. It was 9:36 AM September 11, 2001 and the United States was experiencing a series of events that only can be described as pure chaos. Chaos is no stranger to me. Rather, it perfectly describes my life. By age 33, I had survived injuries that resulted in well over 1,200 stitches – injuries received through playing sports, motocross racing, fighting, and taking drugs. I had survived three heart surgeries and even cancer. However, the chaos I was experiencing on this particular day was different. Not only was it different because I had witnessed the horrible murder of thousands of fellow Americans in the attacks on the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon, but also because I believed, once again, my life had been curiously spared. The combination of chaotic life experiences, 9/11 events, and my life being spared once again, revealed that I have been a participant in these events for a reason, for some purpose. I experienced a paradigm shift – specifically, a “life-changing” shift in thinking. This shift changed much of what I thought to have been true and revealed the workings of a “perfect orchestration” that is part of all of our lives. I first began this project with the intent of writing a short paper for close friends and relatives regarding not only facts but substantiated beliefs on life, health, disease, and the role our medical community plays in them all. Intrigue generating questions would often cause our conversation to “U-turn” back into my past. As I explained major turning points based on extraordinary experiences, the impact of my answers appeared to solidify.
