About the Book

“The Real Economics” presented herein completes the work of Adam Smith outlined in his treatise known as “The Wealth of Nations”, first published in 1776. It is shown that his work was deficient only in the area of basic monetary theory.

Until accredited scholars have had time to revise current Economics textbooks to reflect the new, revolutionary knowledge presented herein, this volume may be used as the Economics textbook everywhere in place of textbooks currently in use. But it will first have to be studied and understood by Economics professors.

About the Author

Joseph H. Leopold received his engineering degree at the University of Pennsylvania where he also studied Economics at the Wharton School. He also studied Banking at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. While a student in the late thirties, he experienced doubt about the theories being taught at Wharton; particularly the view which was then part of the Federal Reserve Act, that gold held in storage by the Treasury provided “backing” for the value of the U.S. dollar as a medium for exchanging real wealth. The present work was prompted by the Author’s recognition of a disparity between economic performance and the theories he was taught at Wharton and Columbia.
