Seven Spiritual Truths

The argument can be made that there is no reality, merely our perception of it. All of the experiences of our lives, to date, totally shape our beliefs, attitudes, feelings, etc. We project those experiences onto everything that happens in our life causing every moment to be merely our perception of the moment. For example, if you ask two people who were involved in the same incident to give their account of what happened, you will get two very different stories based on each person’s perception of the event. We all bring our entire life history to each moment we live, and this history colors and shapes how we view the reality of that moment.

I have found, so far, what I believe to be seven common threads that run through the fabric of most religions and spiritual belief systems. This is the essence of this workbook. These seven truths are important because they are all we have to guide us through our perception. I believe these truths are significant because they are spiritually universal, and because they are repeated in so many belief systems, they transcend perception. We may not always be able to trust our human nature when evaluating a situation—but when we apply universal spiritual truth to the situation, clarity arises.

Most of the conflict in our lives arrives through relying on our perception, not getting outside the box, and not looking at the big picture. When universal spiritual truths are applied to our lives, the conflict can be replaced with peace.

Bottom line—perceptual truth divides us—in relationships, in religion, in the world. Universal spiritual truth unites us. Dysfunction lies in perceptual truth—power and peace lie in spiritual truth.
