The doorbell rang.
“That’s probably Jazz,” I said as I walked to the door.
Without thinking, I quickly opened it.
“It’s about to rain,” Kylee smiled as she stood on the doorstep, “and I had to see my sunshine.”
“Hey,” I smiled uneasily.
She kissed my cheek and walked in.
I turned to face L.D.
She stood.
“I’ll catch you later,” L.D. said to me as she walked to the door.
“Whose that?” Kylee quickly asked me.
“L.D.,” I explained. “She came by to give me an update on one of our friends.”
“The phone works both ways,” Kylee replied.
“I’m leaving now,” L.D. said as she reached for the doorknob.
“Good,” Kylee nodded.
“What?” L.D. asked as she turned to face Kylee.
“Okay,” I quickly interrupted as I stepped between them, “L.D. it was nice to see you. Have a great day.”
“Nice to see her?” Kylee repeated.
I sighed. It seems as if everything I say is wrong.
L.D. scoffed and walked out the door.
“L.D.?” Kylee angrily asked as she stood before me. “Isn’t that your ex?”
“Baby,” I said as I touched her shoulder, “it’s nothing to get upset about. She just came over to discuss a friend.”
“She could’ve done that shit over the phone,” Kylee snapped.
I can’t believe she’s getting this upset. It wasn’t even like that.
