BEAUTY
What is Beauty?
Is it something that you’re born with?
Or something that you buy?
Can one acquire it before
The day they die?
I once knew a person who was
As homely as could be.
But had that inward Beauty
We call personality.
I would gladly give my right arm
If I could have the same
And how ashamed the day they
Told me just how easy it
Was to gain.
For Beauty of the face and limb
Will wither through the years
Leaving just an empty shell
Of sorrows and of fears.
But Beauty of the heart and soul
Will go on to the end
And you will have all the fruits
Of happiness with all men.

My Father

BLESSED[AHE1]
Did you know you’re blessed!
Who, me?
I do not know how that can be
It wasn’t me on bended knee
I never cried out, “Oh God save me!”
You say I’m blessed, Lord, I need to know
How You believe that this is so
I haven’t been to church in years
It was not me that shed those tears
God did not find me saying prayers
If anything, I did not care
I was not my brother’s keeper
Nor was I a prayerful weeper
Yet I am blessed, I know it’s true
God knew me before I knew you
He saw my heart and heard their cries
He knew someday I’d realize
Yes I am blessed!
What else could I be?
God did not fail to recognize me
I was on His list of things to do
He blessed me just as He did you

About the Book
Like many people today I was sleepwalking my way through life always taking my daily blessings for granted. Unexpectedly in November of 2002, the Lord called one of my baby sister’s home. Her sudden death truly rocked my whole world. In my grief I began writing poetry. I like to think of the poems I write as modern songs of praise and worship to God. It is a way of reminding myself just how good God has been to my loved ones and I. For years I suppressed the artistic side of my personality by allowing fear of rejection keep me from stepping out on faith. I don’t have that fear anymore. I believe God wants me to share the gift he’s blessed me with.
About the Author
Her parents taught her a love for God. Life experience gave her a love for praise and worship. She’s the proud mother of three adult children. Raising them and participating in their lives has brought her closer to God. She’s been writing all her life. Yet, this will be her first published work but definitely not her last. There are times her when poems are the only way we can renew ourselves. Being a wife, mother and now single there never seemed to be enough hours in a day to express herself artistically. It took the sudden loss of a loved one to free the bonds of creatively and allow her to begin communicating herself through poems.
