A WOMAN'S GUIDE TO SPIRITUAL VICTORY

In another area, insecurity will cause you to hold onto the people that pass through your life as if you were holding on to a tug-of-war rope…exerting as much control as possible over them.  The best way to describe how this spirit operates in the lives of women is to talk about the area of friendships.  Since women tend to be more emotional than men are, it is easy for us to bond in understanding and compassion.  Women also have the ability and power to make grand accomplishments when working together.  I have heard people say, “If you want something done, tell the women about the need and they will the job done.”  That’s great…until insecurity surfaces in any one individual.  Then, satan has an easy entrance to bring division among the group.

Insecurity enters our churches (and workplaces) through people who have not recognized its operation in their lives.  Because of this poison, the door is opened for women to become jealous of the physical attributes of other women or even the gifts and talents that have been given to another person.

In our society, we have been conditioned to compare ourselves to each other through the comparisons of teachers, parents and other authority figures.  When we come into the knowledge of salvation and fail to recognize the insecurtiy hidden within, the insecurity leads to a form of jealousy, which causes the individual to plant seeds of discord (gossip).

 In addition, when people become complacent in fulfilling their purpose or reaching the next level of their potential, insecurity is given an invitation to cause the person to become ‘cattish’ in their dealings with others.

To give you a realistic example of insecurity in action, I will tell you about another personal experience I encountered while living in Germany.  A few months after arriving in Europe, my husband and I found out that one of his hometown friends and his wife was also stationed there.  His wife and I became shopping buddies as we took advantage of the high exchange value of the American dollar.  About the time that we were all connecting and growing comfortable in our friendship, a third couple moved next door to our friends.  The husband and wife team quickly formed a bond with each original couple.  In the middle of the development of trust, insecurity crept in on my original friend and me as we both considered the third couple to be a threat to our friendship.  We (my original friend and I) were deceived into focusing on the threat and caused us to judge every action in light of the insecurity that had been planted in our minds.  Since we were not aware of satan’s tricks at the time, one act of disrespect lead to another in subtle ways and it wasn’t long before my friend and I had dissolved a positive friendship.
