My grandson T.J. asked me one day, “if I had grass growing in my yard when I was a little girl?” My answer: “No honey, we had a bald yard that we had to sweep to keep it clean, with four very large white oak trees that gave the yard shade; and a lot of leaves in fall, then we had to rake the leaves, then sweep the yard! I’m sure a lot of folks remember bald yards, and what a dust storm it stirred up when sweeping them.

I have heard this statement all my life, but I stand to disagree with such a quote. Yet I cannot think of a better way to describe life in its true form. for the rose represents all the beauty of life. While the tiny briars represents the petty little annoyances of life that one just can’t shake off so easy. And the long thorns’ represents the trouble in life that we all try to avoid. I hope the readers of this book will find something to relate to that is happening in their own life. I write for readers who are searching for a deeper understanding.
