About the Book

An enemy of unspeakable depravity and cruelty plots against England, but Camelot has grown careless during the long years of peace. Many veteran knights are serving in distant parts of the realm and those at court have become complaisant. Sir Gawain, the King’s most passionate defender, has been gone for five years and is fighting his own battle with heartbreak and despair. Struggling to find his way back from the crippling grief of losing his wife, he returns to Camelot to heal but is immediately plunged back into the responsibilities of being Captain of the Royal Guard. Barely functioning himself, he must find a way to raise his young son alone, serve his king and rebuild the realm’s defenses against an enemy he does not even know exists. Sir Gawain’s Challenge is a human tale of loss and resilience, of duty and friendship, a tale of a knight’s love for his country and a father’s love for his child.

Meredith Lahmann has a Bachelor’s degree in English from Western Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree from Winthrop University in South Carolina. She has taught the Arthurian legends for over twenty-two years. When textbooks began deleting the tales, she started teaching them through dramatic storytelling.
