About the Book

Poetic Medicine is a book based on fiction in the life of a young African American female, who has went through different transitions of life, that really have just begun.

From tears of pain, passion, joy and humor it’s a book that all can relate to.

It has been said that everyone has an outlet, a venting period that makes them keep moving forward in life; a solution, an antidote, a medicine.

“Whatever makes your heart content is your voice of feelings; this is your poetic medicine.”

About the Author

Shu-Wonna Gregory Young is a St. Louis native.  Her writing blitz started there while attending Simmons Middle School with an array of Short Stories, essays, and poetry which won her several writing awards from her school and University Chapters.

By late 1991 most of her writings were keyed toward poetry because of the tragic death of her brother in a drunk driving accident, in which “Loosing A Loved One” was composed.

Her writings are based on her life’s experiences.  Shu-Wonna has been able to share her poetry from performing at local events and spots in Central Illinois and also distribution of poetry to well known businesses.

She is self-made, currently she is working toward a Nursing Degree, more poetry and music.
