About the Book
There's A War On, was what grownups said
to kids, all through WWII. It was their
excuse for a lack of sweets and for having to live like moles in the
Blackout. It was also Jane’s mother’s
excuse for dumping Jane to live with the Eastons in
1940. Unsure of her mother’s love and
not knowing her dad ‘s whereabouts or even if he
cared, Jane manages to survive an air raid and the war years, helped by her allies Harry Easton and Sheena. After victory is declared in 1945, Jane begins
her quest to trace her dad. She
eventually finds him and although their meeting is tinged with sadness, Jane
now knows that she was loved and that she can face her mother, and all that
Peacetime will bring.
