The male
phallic symbols, the twin towers of the World Trade Center of New York City
have been bombed and have crumpled upon the sleeping giant and super power, the
United
States of America. I am
Canadian, a sister in spirit of her neighbour, the U.S.A. Canada has often been accused of being too quiet. Our land has not been ravaged by terrorist
attacks but we are not exempt in terms of a required renaissance.
I have heard it said that tyrants
can become our greatest teachers. Are we
willing to pay attention to what is really in front of us? This horrific attack of terrorism is a wake -
up call. It is the “fait accompli” which
might propel us towards greater personal and collective evolution.
In being wounded from this
tragedy, our souls and psyches are opened up.
New questions begin to be formulated about who we really are in our
depths. We have been wounded and a
larger story can be revealed in this wounding.
This is a wake-up call for the world.
We have been sleeping through
nuclear threat, the “desertification” of the planet, and the mounting evidence
of our violence towards one another. We
close our eyes to the great beauty of nature around us , the gratuitous
generosity of strangers, the delight of the playing child, the extraordinary
patterns of the stars in the night sky and the red and gold of happy
sunsets. We strive for increased profits
at the expense of our families, our bodies and our souls. We strive to get more accomplished in less
time. We eat poorly, swallow
anti-depressants, rest less and keep going.
Where? Why? In our land of abundance we pollute. We are mesmerized by violence at an early
age. Did you take time for breakfast? Is dinner with your family a
fantasy? Imbalance rules.
In order to bring a renaissance
or metamorphosis, we must bring change to our relationship with ourselves, the
world, and to our spiritual powers/forces.
How do we awaken the immortal
soul into real time and go beyond fear-based thought forms and insecurities
that hide behind acts of power and aggression?
What are the clues that point to the necessary awakening and
metamorphosis of ourselves? For it is only by beginning with ourselves
that we can truly change our world.
Cleaning up our own back yard first is critical. Just see how a positive change in the way you
speak and behave affects those around you.
The ripple effect has tremendous power.
