Make it Happen
Our belief at the beginning of an undertaking is the only thing that
ensures the successful outcome of our venture.
Whatever we vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and
enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.
(William James, the great philosopher) told by Mary Kay Ash on Pearls
of Wisdom Tape series
Do you think God can, through
you, make anything happen if you set your mind to it? Well, I believe you can
with God’s help and then only if it’s HIS will for you and what HE thinks is
best for you.
I have watched God answer prayers
for exactly what I prayed for, but in ways I would have never meant to have
them answered. In other words, I think we need to watch what we pray for and be
specific. I also believe we need to run while we pray. Do you think it will
benefit you to ask God for something and then just sit back and wait for him to
answer, or run while you pray?
God answers prayers in HIS time,
not ours and believe me, this is where I believe the saying that ‘Patience is a
virtue’ is so true. Remember, I’m the one who has always wanted something done
NOW, not in five minutes, NOT next week or next month, but NOW. So, I’ve
definitely had to learn and am still learning how to be patient when I pray.
God is an on-time God.

some of the following information about our company:
My passion in Mary Kay is to make
sure that every woman has the chance to make an informed decision about this
dynamic career. I am not sure how much you already know about the Mary Kay
opportunity, so I’d like to share with you the story of Mary Kay Ash, review
some reasons I began my own Mary Kay career and allow you to ask yourself some
questions about the potential for your own Mary Kay business.
Mary Kay’s story is one that will
touch your heart. Did you know that when Mary Kay was young, she dreamed of
being a Doctor? Her mother had been trained as a nurse, but worked as the
manager of a restaurant in Houston. She worked 14 hour days, leaving home each
morning at five AM and returning at nine PM. Mary Kay
had responsibilities at the early age of seven of assisting with the care of
her disabled father. One of these responsibilities was involving his meals. When
she called her mother at work for guidance on exactly what to do, Mary Kay’s
mother would always say “Honey, you can do it.” That reassurance turned into
Mary Kay’s confidence. Her words of “you can do it” became the theme of Mary
Kay’s childhood. By the time she reached high school, Mary Kay was a straight
‘A’ student and an award winning debate team member. She chose to finish high
school in three years instead of four and graduated during summer school. Mary
Kay did not attend college because her family couldn’t afford it and
scholarships were very rare at that time. So, she decided she had to do
something great to compete with her friends who were able to further their
education. At age 17, she married a member of a musical group called the
Hawaiian Strummers. He was also a very big radio star in Houston--sort of the
Elvis Presley of the time. Her husband’s job moved Mary Kay and their three
small children to Dallas, Texas. He then left to serve in World War II and Mary
Kay became the sole supporter of their three children. When her husband
returned from the war, he announced that he wanted a divorce. Mary Kay refers
to this time as the lowest point in her life. She says in her autobiography “I
had developed a sense of worth for my ability as a wife and mother, and yet on
that day I felt like a total failure.” Let me ask you---- Have you experienced
these emotions in any part of YOUR life? Are you experiencing them now?
Mary Kay didn’t have time to sit
around feeling sorry for herself --she had to raise
three children. She knew that she needed a good-paying job with flexible hours
so she could spend time with her children. Direct sales was
a natural solution, so she became a representative for Stanley Home Products. She
enjoyed the flexibility and income, but found that she really loved the company
contest. Winning many contest, Mary Kay spent 25 years
in a sales development/training career and retired in 1963 with no thoughts of
starting her own company. She did have some general opinions regarding the
structure and operation of a successful business and some specific opinions
about how women might overcome the obstacles she had encountered. So, she began
making a list of all the good things she had observed in her professional life
and how she felt business should be conducted according to the Golden Rule. As
her list grew, she began to dream of a company in which women had the
opportunity to fully utilize their skills and talents. Without meaning to, she
created an incredible marketing plan for a company she would love to work for. She
realized that she could start that company herself if she had a product that
women would be comfortable selling. In the early 1950’s, at a Stanley Home
Products party, she found out about some very effective skin care products from
the woman at the party. The hostess of the party was handing out little white
jars with black tops and penciled labels. M
