Why Don't You...ASK THE BOY If Jesus Heals the Sick Today

Again the smashing voice of authority slammed with full force into Archie’s soul.  “What is your name?”

Like the crack of a giant tree in the midst of a storm, something had happened. Something deep within had changed.  A groan escaped Archie’s lips, then another one struggled forth before a voice groaned, “My name is Legion, for we are many!”  Instantly, a wind began to blow through Archie’s soul.  It felt like someone had opened a door on a summer night.

“Please,” the voices screeched.  “Do not send us out of the country.”

By now, Archie wasn’t sitting and watching from the sidelines.  Instead, he joined forces with the voice deep within his own soul who called out for freedom again and again.

“The pigs!” the voices cried.  “See the pigs?  We’ll take the pigs!  Send us into them, we beg of you.”

This time, Jesus spoke with the blasting power of a thousand volcanoes.

 “Be gone!”

A breaking, tearing sound like that of falling timbers with the strength of a hurricane ripped through Archie’s soul.  Light, such incredible light, began to invade his innermost being.  With cyclonic action, the voices became shriller until, with the thrust of an archer’s arrow, they left the body they had bound, abused, and tormented for so many years and landed straight into the midst of 2,000 pigs!

Just like a rag doll, Archie’s body finally went limp and fell to the ground when the last demon exited.  He couldn’t move, but he could hear the horrifying sound as the legion of unclean spirits invaded the 2,000 hogs.  The scream of the animals and the terror of the men caught by surprise was something to behold.  The confusion and commotion ended abruptly when they charged into the sea and were drowned. 

At last, all was quiet; and like warm oil, peace spread throughout Archie’s soul, a peace he’d never known.  It was the peace that only heaven could give, God’s peace.

Archie lay basking in his newfound peace when a voice broke the silence.  “Is he dead, Jesus?”

“Jesus?  Jesus!  I’ve heard that Name before,” he thought within himself.  “There’s something about that Name I love.”

Then Jesus answered with a laugh, “No, Peter, he’s not dead; just enjoying his peace and freedom.”  Then Archie felt a gentle hand reach out and caress his forehead and stroke his hair. The sensation was overwhelming.  It had been so long since anyone had touched him with gentleness.  Then someone took his face in their hands and it was with a kindness he had never known before.

His body tingled.  He felt the vibration of strength and healing go through every cell of his being.  And when he opened his eyes, he looked into the face of a man whose eyes were as deep as wells.  Eyes that penetrated his very soul with love and forgiveness.  He felt clean.  Clean and forgiven.

Archie opened his mouth to speak and from the recesses of his spirit came forth, “Jesus, I love you.  I love you!  I’ve waited so long!”

Knowingly, Jesus smiled as he stroked his face again.  By now, the disciples were pressed around them in a tight circle, eager to see who was delivered.

Jesus spoke as he took Archie by the hand.  “All right fellows, back up and give us some room.  He needs to be washed and clothed.  James, you look about the right size.  Why don’t you see what you have?”
