The Morman
Family lineage and heritage was assembled and written to give living family
members and descendants a narrative-versified portrait of its humble beginnings
and impart a sense of pride and history for original offspring who surmounted
the “hard times” and succeeded independently despite formidable economic and
psychological obstacles. The author is grateful to the many family members and
descendants, who contributed personal information of fond and not-so-fond
memories, furnished dates and descriptions of events and provided photographs
that no single member of the clan could possibly furnish. The work was indeed a time-consuming,
cooperative and worthwhile effort.
The author took the liberty of
expanding on events and happenings since he probably had more contact with most
members of the family and experienced or was privy to more information. In
addition, more coverage was devoted to family members who “legally migrated to
the West Coast” and spent considerable time there in residence.

Parents
and Offspring. As per two different naturalization documents,
the U. S. Morman (originally Murman
in
Joseph Senior was born in Gulyvas, Austria-Hungary on September 10, 1886, emigrated
to the U. S. from Bremen, Germany on the Frigvig de Groos (or Fredrick Dargon) and
entered the U. S. at Ellis Island, New York on June 28, 1903. He had a meager
education, a few years of elementary education at best and worked as a
blacksmith’s apprentice. Unfortunately, pop never learned to
speak English fluently.

About the Book
An account of the Morman family history is described in four chapters beginning with a collection of over 70 photographs of original family members, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. One photograph of the parents dates back to 1912 the year of their marriage.
Chapter 2 describes the parents,
Joseph and Julia Morman (Murman)
originally from
Chapter 3 continues the narrative and versified description of the Morman grandchildren, their children and the great, great grandchildren.
The last Chapter, 4, consists of two poems...the first relating to the short interlude on earth called “Life and Stuff.” The second poem, “Lifespan Functions – A Chronology” uniquely describes life’s most important functions in single words or short phrases...all ending in …ation.
About the Author
He was born in
He served as a Chief Yeoman, USN
during WWII and retired as a Major, USAFR.
He worked 40 years plus as a
psychological research assistant, pollster, test constructor, counseling
psychologist, test officer, counselor and professor at CSULA. He also taught 10
years each, part-time, at
Counseling, personality theory,
vocational factors, computer introduction, statistics, research, individual and
group tests, teacher supervision, counselor supervision, independent study,
thesis and dissertation were among college-university subjects taught. He also
consulted in related fields.
Over 40 technical articles on
automation, counseling, statistics, research and validation of psychological
tests were published in various technical journals.
