About the Book

Kit Morrison is completely baffled when she receives a letter notifying her that she is named as an heir in the will of a person unknown to her.  Her presence is requested at the reading of the will, so she will have to travel from New York to Chicago to find out what this is all about.

Her adoptive parents had never explained her middle name, Kittridge, and she had given up asking about it at an early age.  Her mother was a cold woman, certainly not the nurturing type, and her father didn't seem to be interested in the raising  of this child.  Perhaps a trip to the Midwest could answer some questions about her birth parents.  Perhaps not, but she'll never know if she doesn't attend the reading of the will.

Thus begins Kit's adventure.  One pleasant surprise after another changes this quiet, withdrawn young woman into an assertive and accomplished one.  Resigned to the possibility of becoming a spinster, love enters the picture in a most unexpected manner, involving yarn and a wood pile!  There are a few bumps in the road, but eventually they have to be dealt with, and Kit moves on with her life, which takes some remarkable and happy turns.

About the Author

Bette M. Nelson is apparently a late bloomer, having waited until her seior citizen years to begin writing.  However, when a young woman's story began to unfold in her mind each night as she waited for sleep to come, she decided that story needed to be put down on paper, albeit electronic paper.

Encouragement came from unexpected sources, and the positive input from friends and family brought about the call to 1st Books to get it published.

Now a retiree from, first Chicago, then New England, and now living in warm, sunny Central Florida, Bette is enjoying this new adventure in writing.  There is a second book in her computer, waiting to be finished, and a third story is well into development, even though it's still in her mind!
