About the Book

In the Mist of Struggle Stands A Woman, is a collection of poetry written by  Antoinette V. Franklin. This collection speaks of the struggle of an African American Woman “bearing the burden of resentment” and learning the essence of being a woman.

“No one loves a strong woman, she is envied ridiculed, taunted, but she moves forward, toward a new destiny, toward the struggle., …A weaker woman would have perished, wilted like grass, after a fire. A Woman stands in the mist of struggle.

This collection embodies some of the poets most thought provoking poetry. Each section reflects overcoming the various challenges of life. The following sections An Untouched

Song, My Rock and My Salvation, Going Home, and A New Beginning, are the poetic growth, of a Texas word-worker learning how to cope in the mist of struggle.
