Approximately
ten years ago, I wrote the above lines as part of the introduction for a
college essay about goals. Using those
same lines I introduce this book, “Teaching... But Nobody Is Learning: Create A Teachable Moment,” to highlight its purpose as a
tool for teachers. You are expected
to be the guide to the pot of gold at the end of a student’s rainbow. You are expected to supply the fuse
for a student’s light. You are expected
to instill in the students some measure of hope for life.
No
one tool can fix all problems. This book
is just one tool designed to assist any teacher who finds a need for it. If this book does nothing else, my desire is
that it will help the educator define his or her purpose for being in the
classroom.
I
am suggesting in this book that we as educators must: define our purpose for
teaching, create an atmosphere conducive to learning, look at the educational
process from the learners prospective, and actively involve the learner in the
educational process.
I
am suggesting that sometimes- a teachable moment must be created.

experience-long before the food is served.
Using the idea of “special planning,” and an emphasis on creativity, she
suggests ways to make time spent in the classroom special, for the

She has over twenty years of experience in the telecommunications field and has worked as an independent training consultant and instructor for over seven years. She is the author of two books of poetry-I Just Want to Help and When The Light Shines Through… She holds a M.E. degree, specializing in educational technology and human resources training and development.
