About the Author
Denise
Bates has enjoyed and been obsessed with writing since a teacher caught her
writing a story in class instead of the work she was supposed to be doing. To Denise’s surprise, her teacher did not use
the moment to embarrass or scold her.
This
teacher’s further encouragement startled her into a confidence about her
imagination and writing. A search to
balance what Denise ‘wanted to write’ with ‘the best way to write it’
began. It was when she worked on this
story that she knew she had found exactly what she was looking for.
