About the Book

The novel is a literary oddity in that it cuts across three genres: metaphysical, science fiction and love story.  There is an underlying theme that pervades the entire story and casts it in a new light.  The turning point centers around an issue within the history of the Catholic Church that seems trivial on the surface but the implications shake the very core of our identity as conscious beings, namely, does the soul have a beginning?  Most religions accept that the soul is eternal – meaning no end.  But what about its beginning?

Another theme to the novel is the second coming of Jesus.  This vein carries an equally powerful message.  How can the “Kingdom of God” be established on Earth?  Does knowledge alone liberate us from the “ignorance of evil?”

The characters of the story may be fictional, but the underlying issues they represent will continue to be discussed, criticized and some, will even die for.

Any writer assumes a certain amount of audacity in seeking the reader’s attention.  The only justification I can offer is because the book constitutes a unique genre with a compelling message that I’ve never seen before.

About the Author

Vince Procopio was born in a small village in Italy in 1950. He dropped out of high school in 1968 to volunteer in the United States Marine Corps. After serving one year in Vietnam, he was discharged in 1970.  Under the auspices of the GI Bill, he became a professional full- time student (1970-1983) to try quench his burning desire for knowledge. (And, of course, redemption was always one book away--) But as the process unfolded, the search for answers led to a spiraling quest for more exploration; in which questions greatly outnumbered any tentative answers.

Mr. Procopio completed a B.A. degree in Business in 1973 from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. He attended the University of Akron’s graduate program full time from 1973-1983 in Philosophy, Psychology, Economics and Sociology earning several graduate degrees. The Second Messiah is the summary – as told in science fiction format – of the most important truths he’s learned on his journey thus far.
