Ann sighed and said, “Honey you
really need to start sleeping in your own bed.”
“I’ll do it tomorrow. I promise!”
Alyssa pleaded.
“We’ve gone through this every
night since you started sleeping in your own bed. You’re six years old it’s
time you quit sleeping with mommy.”
“But mommy?”
Alyssa cried.
“Goodnight.” Ann said then bent
down and kissed her daughter. Ann left Alyssa’s room leaving the door open a
crack.
Alyssa pulled the blanket back up
over her head. Soon after, the deep lisping voice growled again. Alyssa kept
her eyes shut tight and clutched on to her blanket with all her might. The
voice stopped, in fact all the scary noises stopped.
Alyssa slowly pulled the blanket
off her face. She gave out a blood-curdling scream. Alyssa found herself face
to face with a rotting face with sinking in yellow eyes, and razor sharp teeth.
He grabbed her face with his bony hand. His sharp black claws pierced her
cheeks.
The faster Alyssa’s heartbeat the
more this monster in front of her seemed to grow.
“Fear me!” it cackled. Alyssa was
too scared her body couldn’t handle it anymore and the little girl fell
unconscious until morning.
The fearful eyed little girl
wandered into the kitchen with her mother for breakfast.
“Oh my God.
Alyssa what happened to your face?” Ann asked.
“The
boogieman.” Alyssa whispered as she rocked back and fourth. Ann examined
her daughter’s face. The cuts weren’t too deep but were lined with bruises.
Suddenly the phone rang. “Hello?”
Ann answered. “Oh Colby it’s you. Ann looked at her daughter who was listening
and went to the other room. Alyssa strained to listen.
All she heard was her mother say
she was worried about her. When Ann returned to the kitchen Alyssa was playing
with her cereal. Ann sat down next to Alyssa and asked about the boogieman.
Alyssa stared down at her bowl
and whispered like someone else was listening.
“He comes from under my bed. He
likes me to be scared of him. Mommy is he going to eat me?”
Ann took her frightened daughter
in her arms and said, “No baby.” She couldn’t believe how bad Alyssa was
shaking.
