About the Book

Spring comes early in Ridgeboro, Louisiana, and reluctant private investigator Tree McDowell thinks that the change of season is just what she needs. She's spent most of her twenty-seven years hiding behind her slim, six foot, four inch frame by dating men who are tall in stature but short in character. Yes, changes are definitely in order.

Rose Marie ‘Tree’ McDowell came to private detecting through an adolescent pact made with two childhood friends. But Tree knows she would rather counsel and console than sleuth and spy, and she wonders if a new career should be simmering in her gumbo pot.

When she's handed the job of finding Maylynn Bundric, a once high fashion model, Tree is hard pressed to scrape up clues from the cauldron of information supplied by Maylynn's acquaintances. They appear to be trying to help, but are they really?

The more Tree digs, the more she finds herself liking the missing model. Under Maylynn's beautiful exterior is a vulnerable woman much like Tree McDowell.

Then things start to click, all stirred together by an exciting new relationship. Spring is definitely heating things up in Louisiana. Ultimately, the truth about Maylynn emerges, but is it soon enough?
