Born and raised in Chicago, Karen attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois and earned a BS in Biology.  She was a research technologist and surgical Microbiologist for the University of Chicago for 23 years.  She is now employed by Abbott Laboratories where she oversees testing document quality and control.

Working with children is something that Karen has always enjoyed.  The years she has spent with them remind her of why she is affectionately known to many Mom.  In that time she is known for her – isms, nuggets of wisdom if you will, such as “Kids and animals don’t lie.”  She currently resides in Lake Zurich, Illinois accompanied by her husband Keith and their “Fuzzy Children.”
