Soul Exposed

If there is any one word to describe Sekenia Williams, it is resilience.

Sekenia was born on the wrong side of the tracks and has faced almost every conceivable adversity one might think of.  He was born out of wedlock, sexually molested as a child, tormented by his classmates by being called a sissy.  He was homeless, lonely, on welfare, fired from at least ten jobs, and lost many loved ones. 

After facing such adversities, Sekenia transformed himself into a contemporary renaissance man by focusing on what he had to offer, not what he didn’t.  He is now enjoying success as a prolific author, playwright, composer, singer, producer, director,   music video director, entrepreneur, talent coordinator, radio and TV talk show host, model, modeling coach, actor, acting coach, make-up artist, stylist, designer, Fashion photographer, emcee, fashion show producer, special events coordinator, agent, manager and owner of Beautiful People Model, Talent and Casting Ltd. and the Beautiful People Theater. Soul Exposed is about a life in a lifetime.  It’s about taking control of your life and elevating yourself even if it means leaving your greatest comforts.  It’s about seeking your true purpose.  It’s about being vulnerable and mortal.  It’s about changing and letting go and moving on.  It’s a candid comprehensive account of life’s triumphs and tragedies.

My mother would often lash out at me, curse me out, and say that I thought that I was better than she was because I did not condone that type of company.

In June 2003 I wrote “4 Sisters from the South” a dramatic stage play about the incidents that my momma would tell me about.  It went on the stage and was a tremendous hit with audiences.  I hope to turn it into an independent film soon.

I have always cherished peace.  I would often watch T.V. shows like “The Brady Bunch” and “Leave It to Beaver”, and dream of a happy home where people could actually communicate and achieve harmony.  My mother and the crowd that she hung with had filthy mouths.  It use to break my little heart to hear my mother call me “Mother-Fucker” and a “Son of a Bitch, and say things like: “God-damn this and that”, and if you don’t go sit your ass down boy, I’m going to break your fucking neck.  That’s just the way that she talked back there in those days.  She has gotten a little better.

I got more beatings and spankings than I ever could imagine for just suggesting to my mother that she should talk and act more like a lady, stay away from those juke joints and stop gambling.  My mother’s gambling forced me and my older sister Chubby to become surrogate parents to our two younger sisters and two younger brothers.  When my mother would leave on Friday night, she would not return until Monday morning.  This would often force me and my sister Chubby to miss a lot of time out of school.  We simply could not leave our little siblings alone, unattended.  Chubby and I would literally do everything for Travis, Chermia, Cheryl and Billy that a mother would do.
