About the Book

Abdallah and The Bright Strings” is a story about a boy from the Sultante of Oman who plays the oud.  He loves the instrument but wishes that its tone would be brighter.

He meets some Western youngsters, in particular, a girl who plays mandolin, an instrument with a very bright tone.  They exchange lessons and learn about each others music, each other’s culture, etc.

The book is multicultural, musical, and entertaining.


About the Author

Michael F. Capobianco is Prof. Emeritus at St. John’s University, NY and has been writing for 20 years.  He writes poetry, Fiction (including children’s books) and spiritual movies.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

Joseph S. Ficchi, DPM is a board certified podiatrist who is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine as well as of the American Professional wound Care Association.  He earned A Bachelor of Arts degree at Fordham university (Lincoln Center campus), where he supplemented his pre-medical curriculum with arts and literature courses.  He is an amateur musician, and has been enjoying sketching and painting for many years.

Dr. Ficchi is currently in the process of illustrating a series of children’s picture books, the first of which is entitled Fay Adopts A Family.
