About the Book

The author’s writings relate to everyday issues that touch upon the day-to-day lives of common people and life’s situations. Experiences, observations, viewpoints and opinions have led to the compilation of material gathered to make up the composition of this book.

Each of the writings touch upon topics that we often think of but allow our thoughts to dissipate without expressing feelings or emotions to love ones or friends. It is the author’s wish that these writings will create an inner awakening and allow the reader to get in touch with their inner spirit.

Today’s society has placed a damper on how we show our personal feelings to family and friends. Love it seems has taken a vacation with a one-way ticket. The world today is desperately in need of love of self and mankind. Without love, we isolate ourselves and begin to look at life from the perspective of self, giving no thought or consideration to others.

Hopefully the reader will take a step back and look at the world in which we live and paint a picture of them self. One should ask oneself, am I giving the best of myself, to family, friends, and the world in which I live? Am I fulfilling my purpose of being or existing? How can I make a difference?

About the Author

Growing up in the South during the 50s and 60s many may think was very difficult. The author feels that even today people perceive the south as a place filled with racism and bigotry. Southern states have a lot to offer if one would take off the blindfold and look at its rich traditions, customs, and heritage.

Seldom can one find family and friends who share work, play, and day-to-day activities, continuing to remain focused on who they are – living a simple life by escaping the frustrations, tensions, and distractions that big city life offers.

Like many who migrated from the South in search of a better life, the author too, clings to his childhood days. The enjoyment of walking along a dirt road smelling the scent of wild flowers and throwing rocks into the bayou brings back memories of his youth now lost with the passing of time.

So often the author would find himself walking in the rain, each drop seemingly showering his body as if giving a gentle massage, re-energizing him physically, mentally, and spiritually.  How precious were those days that have become memories that play in his mind.

In thought he find himself being drawn back to family and friends and days of his childhood youth appreciating the conversations held with the elders who spoke of things that broaden his mind making him more aware and knowledgeable of the world which he now lives.

The author feels that he would not be the person he is today without his parents’ discipline, love, and guidance.  He thanks God for his parents and praises Him for his blessings.
