Money must be good to have. I
hope if I ever get any, I get a lot of it, from what I hear that’s the best.
I’ve never heard anyone say they had too much of it but I’ve noticed a lot of
grumbling about being short.
I’ve noticed humans are always
trying to figure out how to acquire more money, and then when they get more
it’s still not enough.
The appeal of money escapes me,
I’ve sniffed small amounts in moms’ purse and dads’ wallet but it didn’t have a
pleasant smell and it didn’t seem like it would be fun to play with, it’s not
even pretty. It has pictures of unattractive humans on it.
Mom says you have to earn money
by working. Only a few people have it given to them.
I believe I could earn money. I
could be a model and have my picture on cat food or on greeting cards; nothing
could beat getting a card with a picture of a lovely human on it. I know that’s
true because I’ve seen how excited mom gets when she gets that kind of cards.
Well, I just had a terrific idea.
I’ll be a model for money, my picture on a one-dollar bill, a five or ten or
even twenty would make earning money worthwhile.
Mom named me Belle because she
said I’d be the belle of the ball with my coat of many colors. Of course I’ve
never been to a ball; I don’t think cats are often invited to a ball.
Way back in Bible times Joseph
had the first coat of many colors, then many, many years later Dolly Parton had one and she wrote a song about it.
I think mine is the only one made
of fur, those famous ones were made of cloth, not nearly as soft or warm as
mine.
Joseph’s brothers were jealous of
his coats and Dolly’s friends made fun of hers. Cats don’t act like that! We
all love each other and admire each others beautiful coats but we are all proud
of our own and wouldn’t trade if we could.
My brother Mister has a tuxedo
coat; he is always dressed to the nines! My brother Beau has a lovely striped
coat that’s slick and shiny and gorgeous. My sister Star has a really thick,
rich coat with very nice markings around the face. Oh yes we are all real fashion
plates and the big cats Lucky, Lady and Red are blessed with great coats also.
Now if I could just angle an
invitation to the ball and an explanation of what a ball is, I’d be all set to
show off my coat of many colors.
