About the Book

The Barnabas Nickel is the first in a gripping mystery series, featuring a worldly Hill Country Texan, his theologian girlfriend and the tar balls of knotty trouble that require page turning, consternation, introspection and ethical re-evaluations to determine which player, if any, deserve redemption. From the start Horst is suffering from murder’s ethical hangover which is complicated by the reappearance of his dead friend, and blow-back from Leo’s sloppy nickel work.  Ghosts from his past complicate every action and reaction.  Horst finds himself in a swirl of black waters which taint his relationships.  In the new game, the cost of a mistake is your life. In the tradition of strategic criminal warfare under our very eyes, plot-twists-and-turns will have readers watching the movements of stranger’s eyes. The characters are engaging.  Some we resemble, others we know and the ones that keep us up at night, we hope never to meet.  The problem is we must consider is whether a killer of bad guys can be good.  Evaluate the action reports yourself on the battlefields of today, and by the end you may find you have more in common with the killers than the police.  And that’s what makes our dilemma all the more unsettling.

About the Author

An old-school citizen of the world, Michael Sea is refining his understanding of the 21st Century.  Like his adventurers he strives to do good work in the dynamic and murky business cultures that swirl around us.  A Cherokee he grew up in the European world of cobblestones, cold wars, surrogate friends, misguided objectives and weighty consequences.  More than most he gets up close with friends to share edgy stories of close scrapes.  When you stop learning, you are dead. He works to cut through mundane and opaque business environments to expose the primary drivers behind the veils.  He knows the solitude of noble adventures, dark nights on lonely streets, and the hum of lethal current that runs like electricity along society’s third rails, money, power, lust and revenge.

Like characters in his stories, his life has been bump-steered between the three posts of danger, intrigue and redemption.  A catcher who could hit, he also ran cross-country, played mid-center in field hockey and European football.  Prior to the Barnabas Nickel he wrote business reports and his personal poetry in both French and English.  Educated in Europe and the United States, he studied psychology, French history, International relations, business and theology.  He has worked as a photographer, international management consultant, entrepreneur, and Federal expert witness.
