Your time with the children is
here. Perhaps it’s this time, and taking them back, that is them most stressful
for you, the father. Excitement, Apprehension--.maybe confrontation with the
ex-spouse, can be just some of the feelings arising at this time. For some
fathers, it’s THIS time that is most uncomfortable. The excuses for NOT seeing
their children usually fall within this area. The “caring” father
usually want to “sacrifice” his time with the children to “avoid”
putting the children through the ugly exchange.
There are countless ways to avoid ugly scenes or at least minimize them.

Women, again by tradition, have
always been able to find a baby-sitter when needed, for the most part. “Where
do I go?” “Who do I ask?” I’m sure, may be some of your questions. As a woman-- I’ll tell you!
I first always looked in my
immediate surroundings for someone reliable. Maybe a neighbor, family friends
or even a family member who wanted to either spend time with the children or
earn a little cash part time. I even
asked these individuals if they KNEW someone reliable that I may call. I
checked with co-workers who had children. Who did they use to Baby-sit their children. Calling the local colleges for students who are
eager to earn some extra cash or the local Senior Citizen Job hot line can
often provide some satisfying results.
Once you have gotten a name, set
up an interview. After all, you are the employer. Never be so desperate or in
so much of a hurry as to NOT interview the person you are going to trust your children
with.

About the Author
In
the mid 1980's Janice, along with her ex-husband, started Dads Against The
Discriminating System. She has appeared on Television, Radio, and did public
speaking as an advocate for Joint Custody. Janice had been divorced for approximately 13 years before remarrying and
raised 3 children on her own during that time. Janice attended Porterville
College in Porterville, California
and College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California where she attained her degree. She has worked in the Mental
Health field since 1972 as a Licensed
Psychiatric Technician.
Also
on her career path, she has worked as a Crisis Worker For
Tulare/ Kings Emergency Services and spent several years on the
adolescent unit at Modesto Psychiatric
Center dealing with troubled children. Janice continues to work in
Mental Health as well as Real Estate. In 1995, Janice received her certification and registration as a Clinical
Hypnotherapist with the American Board of Hypnotherapy. She is certified as a
Metaphysical Counselor and as a Past
Life Therapist. Janice is a member of the International Society of Poets and
the Association for Research and Enlightenment. Also to her credit, she appeared in the National Reference Institute under
"Who's Who of Women Executives" 1989-1990. Other books published by
Janice is "Custodial/Non-Custodial
Parent Record Keeper" which has sold Nationwide since 1987. Currently she
is working towards a Doctorates in Hypnotherapy and
maintains a private practice out of her home in Modesto, California.
