About the Book

The book you are now holding is what some say is the work of The Poet of the 21st Century.  Andrew Taafe writes in a classical style but he is very new age.  “A Poet’s Living” - (Opus Three) drives the mind forward towards the deep beauty of things with an extraordinary quality.  Just as every flower is unique to itself, so is every poem and illustration.  The sounds of the words are wonderfully filled with heart and soul.  Every poem is a set-up to the next one that follows.  The poems are poignant pleasure to read.  Classical, tragical, comical, ironical, cynical, lyrical, and elegant.

This collection reclaims the beauty of humanity that our world and its cultures seem to neglect to see what is precious and eternal.  The subject matter on these pages are remarkable and rare.  It’s all there, a tapestry of words filled with radiance.

To Andrew Taafe, poetry has his life’s deepest creative passion and with these poems, all 72 of them, are natural.  They loom of perception and feeling with a language that makes them seem effortless to read.

About the Author

Andrew Taafe was born on Saturday, December 12th, 1964.  Raised in Philadelphia, the son of Mildred Joan and Joseph James Taafe.  He attended both public and parochial schools.  While in 2nd grade, he was diagnosed with a reading disability called “dyslexia”.  He persevered in trying to overcome this disability by attending remedial reading classes for many years at the University of Pennsylvania. Where he achieved his goal of learning to read.

In 1992, he started to devote his attention to writing poetry, and in 1998, he independently published his first collection of poems entitled “Free As A Bird” – (Opus One), followed by his 2000 “Garden Universe” – (Opus Two).  Now his journey of writing continues with his third venture “A Poet’s Living” – (Opus Three).  His poetic vision shows and speaks of inspiration, love, chaos, dreams, faith, observations, and reflections, many of which came to him late at  night.

The poems are gathered into sections under two titles “A Poet’s Living” and “From A Notebook of Sketches”.  Poems included are entitled “Seeds of Wisdom”, “I Knew It All Along”, “The Sparrow”, “Saturday’s Child”, “Heaven’s Gate”, “C-A-N-C-E-R”, “Weathered The Storm”, “Little Wings”, “Lost My Way”, and “It Was A Great Day”.
