About the Book

Border Gold takes place in the contemporary southwestern United States and centers around a newly retired Border Patrol Agent who loves to spend his spare time in the wild and quiet places of the southwest desert.

That quiet however, is suddenly shattered by heavily armed, well-organized drug smugglers who ruthlessly kill anyone who would pose a threat to their operation.

The intent of this book is to give one a real feel for what it's like to "Ride The River" with the U.S. Border Patrol.  Upon finishing the book the reader will have gained much insight into Border Patrol operations as well as the terminology used by Agents in the field.

Many of the occurrences in this book are true with the names and locations changed only slightly, since their personalities are reflected in the writing.

Finally, the locations are very real as are the "quiet places" mentioned in the text.  If you, per chance, follow "A Donde Road" south you will find many of the places mentioned throughout the book.  But do so at your own peril and take plenty of water for the dangers that existed for travelers hundreds of years ago still exist there today.

About the Author

The author was born in Ohio during the early years of World War II.  His family moved to a home in the country when he was ten and he quickly discovered a deep love for the wild and quiet places of the Ohio woodlands as well as a love of horses and shooting.

After a seven year stint in the US Navy as a Nuclear Power Plant Operator on various nuclear submarines,  he was selected for a position in the United States Border Patrol. The author served more than 27 years in the US Border Patrol with nine of those years serving as a Firearms Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga.

He retired in 1996, but was rehired two years later to once again teach Border Patrol Agent Trainees the art of defensive weapon craft.
