Looking at Courtney he talks to Lovely. "Lovely this is my girl…"

Lovely walks away before he finishes the introduction. Patrick looks to his right where Lovely once stood. Gaining a view of her in the crowd, as well as Courtney; Lovely blows a kiss and continues sashaying through the crowd.

The waitress inquires to Patrick, "Are you ready to order sir?"

With a lost of appetite he returns, "No I won’t be having anything."

"All right then, I’ll be right back with your order Miss."

"Ok "Mr. Logical Explanation," I’m waiting!"

Thinking of what to say his mouth responds, "Waiting for what?"

Courtney cuts her eyes at Patrick. He asks "What?"

She snaps, "Don’t what me… who’s the half-breed?"

"Oh her… That was Lovely. Someone I used to know."

Courtney sucks her teeth and lashes out, "Used to know? Yeah Right! Looks like you still know her in more ways than one."

"Baby, listen to logic, and let me explain." He takes in a deep breath. "I met Lovely a couple of years ago. We went out on a few dates. She wanted a commitment and I wasn’t ready, so that was the end of that."

She questions, "A few years ago huh?"

Trying to regain his cool he slowly lets off a "Yes… a few years ago."

There’s a moment of silence as Courtney’s brain is in drama overdrive. Patrick tries to breaks the ice.

"I love this jazz song lets dance."

She shakes her head "I don’t wanna dance."

He insists "Come on baby." Patrick reaches for Courtney’s hand leading her to the dance floor, but not before caressing her tightly, kissing her on the forehead and then the nose. "You mean so much to me."

The melody from the band soothes all the tension. And thoughts of Lovely are far gone but not forgotten.
