About the Book
For those suffering with back pain, reading the chapter "Beds, Back and
Beyond" in The Patient Patient, can be most beneficial. Cunningham shares how
readers can avoid the frustration and disappointment she experienced while
searching for her own cure. After countless visits to chiropractors, accupunturists,
physical therapists, various specialists and even being told by an orthopedic
surgeon, "No doctor will ever help you" she is convinced you can help yourself.
****
Many chapters in the The Patient Patient deal with how the author solved
medical problems creatively. For example, tired of waiting an hour in a hospital
lab after a test, Cunningham began clapping and singing very loudly off key.
Her obnoxious behavior accomplished exactly what she wanted. She was promptly
wheeled out of the lab and taken to her room.
Most will agree with Cunningham. Being admitted to a hospital is definitely
not like entering the Ritz-Carlton, even though you’re paying ten times the
rate! No choice of room, view or amenities and definitely not the service. Just
rock hard mattresses. She shamelessly shares some classic examples of her
original ways of handling stressful situations while in the hospital.
Readers can not only laugh at Cunningham’s spicy hospital tales, but also
discover some helpful home remedies. She admits that sometimes her home remedies
worked, and sometimes they didn’t but points out that doctor’s remedies don’t
always work either. Her many hilarious episodes are informative, useful, and
highly entertaining.
This book is written with wit and full of practical advice gained through
experience. The Patient Patient empowers potential patients and people in general
to be proactive and keep a positive attitude.
