With that, he opened his hand to reveal a gold necklace with
a gold heart. The gold heart was simple but breathtaking. It was polished and
glinted brightly from the sunlight that streamed in from the open window beside
his hospital bed. And in the center of it, she could see a smaller heart made
of tiny diamonds.
"Wow!" That was all Annie could say or think.
Danny smiled and then closed his hand again, hiding the
heart and it's chain from view. His eyes shone
brightly then clouded over with remembrance. He sat quiet for a few minutes and
then spoke.
"Pretty huh? But you know what? I think I'll tell you
the story about that later because actually Annie, I'm kind of tired right now.
So do you mind if we cut the visit short so I can take a nap? I'm glad you stopped
by. You take care, okay and I'll see you tomorrow."
Annie nodded, got up and left, turning around to say goodbye
before she opened the door. "You take care Danny.
Have a good rest."
